Whos Contract to Use?

When rehabbing property as an investor is it more customary to use the contractors agreement provided by the contractor or does the investor/owner typically provide the contract?

Obviously whichever party’s contract is used is going to have the upper hand but I am just wondering if I should insist that my contract be used and if they refuse then use a different contractor, or if using theirs is ok as long as I read it.

My view is the content of the contract is what matters, now who wrote the contract.

I have written my own contract and included provisions from other contracts i have found to protect myself from a lot of things but just wondering what to do if the contractor insists on using his contract. In my opinion that would be a red flag and he has more to lose than i do b/c he is losing the job and i can always just move onto the next guy if i want.

Anyhow i was just wondering if it is typical practice to use one or the other.
