What I am really looking for is to compare the lowest price median homes with the fair market rental rates. As to which cities give you the bvest return on your rents bersus the price of the home. So does anyone know where to go on the internet to find the median price of homes in various cities? Hopefully I won’t have to pick the city first? Thanks

Realtor.org has up to date median sales price info. The US census site
goes on for days with median home prices, median rents, listed by city
and/or metropolitan statistical area, etc.
Unfortunately, I have not yet seen a site that does the actual
comparison of median home prices to median rents. Please share if

It’s the weekend now so I can’t call to verify, but I would try the County Recorder’s Office that contains the cities you are interested in. I don’t know of any national database on the net to get every city’s median price because that list would be millions of entries long. IRS databases might have it, but I don’t know how to tap into those.
Another point is that many larger cities have different sections of values, so ask the County Recorder’s Office if they can break it down by zip code.
