I rehab Leon, and if possiable cover it with 1/4 rock and move on…Popcorn is a mess and I hate trying to rip it down. Just makes a bigger JOB…

I’m doing some remodeling at my residence and subbing everything . I’ve got a popcorn cieling I’d like to finish smooth. It’s not something I want to do myself so I’m looking for some ideas or experience.

One area is cracked and will have to be repaired after some hopefully minor leveling. Because of age some areas almost conform to the cieling joists and you can see where some of the seams run.

I’m wondering with an eight foot high cieling if I should just put a thin layer of new sheetrock rather than try to refinish what’s there. I believe they’ll have to scrape the popcorn regardless.

We use a pump up weed/water sprayer and wet it then with a 6" trowell scrape it off. Comes off real easy when wet. Then retape.
