Before you follow any advice on a 1031 exchange make sure it comes from someone who has done serveral of them. That’s one area that is very peticular. You don’t want to do something wrong and have it void your exchange.

I will be selling two different rental units within the next few months. I do have an exchange intermediary already established. My question concerns those costs which will be encountered prior to sale, e.i. re-roofing, painting, etc. Will I be able to retrieve those monies at closing or will they aborbed into the deal. In other words I do not wish to take funds out of savings and not be able to retrieve them. Thanks any and all for your comments.
