Yes, get an attorney. As this is your first, you should have your attorney guide you through the process and make sure everything is recorded properly, and do a search prior to buying to make sure you know what you are buying.

The 2nd lien holder for a property I’m trying to buy agreed to sell me their mortgage at a discount. Any idea what I should do next? Should I hire an attorney to help? Should I set up a small escrow transaction? Please help as this is my first note transaction.
