I know that it is cheaper in lower income areas to buy, but isn’t it risky to buy in areas where people are from different ethnic origin than yours? Have you been taken advantage on account of that? And how do you deal with that? I have had both good and bad experiences with minor things but real estate in general is quite expensive adventure? In other words what interesting experiences with other culters/ethinc groups did you have and how you coped with the diferences? Thanks!

James,

I pretty much exclusively buy in lower-income areas of Chicago. This city is probably one of the most segregated cities in the country. And, I’d say 99% of all the buyers and tenants that I deal with are a different race than myself. However, I really have had no negative experiences to speak of.

The bottom line is if your offering a product that the consumer wants, it really doesn’t matter what race you are. I’ve found that you gain a person’s respect and by treating them with respect.
