No I mean “tie it to the contract”, in a legal sense. Stapling is optional. These adendums do get separated from the contract regardless of how attached some times, so with the appropriate info. in the Addendum it can be matched up with the contract.

In the past I have used my company letterhead to make an addendum to attach to a realtors contract.

Is there a proper format to making an addendum? Should it be on a specific form or document?

Thanks!

Not that I now of. Just call it “Addendum to Purchase Contract” and then start off the first sentence with: This is an addendum to that contract executed on ______, with buyer _______________ and Seller ________________ for the purchase fo the property at __________________________.

You just have to tie it to the original contract.

It’s a good idea to name the Addendum. Like Addendum “1”, Addendum “A”, or Addendum “name”. Then write “See Addendum ‘name’” on the original contract. Avoids confusion if you have multiple addenda, and makes the legal people happier.
