First stop is State department of
health services or The state agency
that reugulates this Business you are
thinking of starting.
High end area and services will generate
higher end payment to you by clients.
Find out restrictions on how many clients
you can take care of in that zoning and
size of property.
Find out how long it take to finally
get licensed.
Each state is diffferent.
It will not take long for you to know
everything by asking a few operators
where you are.
You need to know how much others
charge, cost of food, utilities, mortgage, insurance, help, training you and help
need to operate it.
If I were you I will not even think
about it.
24 hours responsiblity and help will
be a big issue because many good help
don’t want to take care of your clients
on weekends and holidays and guess who
will end up doing it? If you start it
that will be your life and hard to get
out because of the amount of time and resources
involved to get started.

Has anyone out there ever done an adult assisted living program. I have a 5/2 in a good area, very close to shopping and the bus line. Looking for advice as to how to go about it. There will be no problem with zoneing or code enforcement. I will have to do some work to satisify the fire marshall. I will not be in a position to accept wheelchair bound persons, the severly mentally retarded or any type of drugies.
