It doesn’t matter what type of R.E. agency you deal with. There are incompetent realtors at big places and very professional ones at smaller agencies.
2 Things. Everyone is an individual and go where the deals are.

It is advisable to stay away from Big Name agencies like Century 21, Coldwell, etc. and to target the smaller ones? I would think that your chance with the Big Names wouldn’t be as good

You asked the question, but didn’t say why you needed to know? Are you looking to buy or sell? What state are you in? If you are looking to sell and want a Realtor to drop the commission, there are plenty out there. Ususally they work for a 100% company, which means they don’t have to split their commissions with their Broker. I know all this because I am a Realtor. I am mostly investing now, but my license helps me to find good deals. I am always willing to help a fellow investor. And I don’t charge a 6% commission.
