i found a possible deal from a fsbo. im just wondering if your not using an agent what is the process of buying the home. im thinking of doing an owner finance with 30-40% down with a big ballon payment due in 6-to-8 months. basically if she accepts my offer where do we go next, do i hire a re lawyer to take care of paperwork, and just have a title company do everything else. by the way this would be my 2nd rehab and i live in tx if it matters.

Dan, you can go through a title agency and they will prepare the paperwork. But for safety (and to increase your own RE knowledge) spend a couple hundred dollars for the assistance of a good RE attorney.

My favorite RE attorney (wife) has horror stories about having to fix RE problems after the fact when sales are done by inexperieneced sellers/buyers who manage to muck up the process.

It can be a lot more expensive to fix a problem than to have done it right the first time.

Protect yourself and your interests.
