Jay Levinson makes this point in Guerrilla Marketing. I have a vanity number and the only place I use it is on my signs. My thinking is that when people are driving, they can’t write down the number anyway, and having a number that spells something MIGHT help my response. Who knows.

According to a recent marketing survey, numbers that spell words are less likely to be called. Reason being that people don’t write the number down because they think they can remember it… but they don’t. Supposedly, people have a tendancy to write down numbers that don’t spell anything and there you have it… for what it’s worth. I’m no marketing expert, just read it somewhere…food for thought…
