A Certificate of Compliance is a certificate issued by each county in California, which says that based on current information available to them, that a certain piece of property has been divided or has resulted from a division in compliance with the Subdivision Map Act.

It is usually issued by the Zoning/Building/Planning department of the city where the property is located.

For more information go to the California Government Code section 66499.35(a)(b)

I hope this helps.

Thank you so much for your response. It is most helpful. One other question. Is there a set fee for
filing one, is it uniform throughout the State or does
each county set their own fee?

The statewide set fee should be about $9.00 unless you want a certified copy, then add $6.00 more.

By the way, if you like I can fax or e-mail you a copy.
