Claiming Excess Proceeds From Tax Sale - Posted by Karen Smith

What state/city/county is this? Every locale does their tax sale differently. For example, here in DC, if you bid more on a property than the taxes that are owed, your surplus does NOT come back to you even if you obtain title to the property. I would suggest you check local or state law to see if what you are suggesting is feasible.

Claiming Excess Proceeds From Tax Sale - Posted by Karen Smith

Hello everyone,
Can someone please help me? I was the successful purchaser of real property at a tax sale. I have filed a claim for the excess proceeds from the sale. The County Counsel wants to know the legal theory of how I support my claim of being a party of interest. Any comments, suggestions, experiences to share? Please post or e-mail me directly at reallady@webtv.net
