Comps from Title Companies? - Posted by MilNC

I did find Lawyers Title in Winston Salem NC.
That doesn’t ring a bell, but it DID make me look
at the W/S phone book, which I have here, and gave me the idea to check all the nearest, cities,
I think you are right–ask them all, see what
turns up.
I don’t have any on-going relationships with realtors,
and am not intending to waste their time; I don’t have
a track record, so can’t feel comfortable to ask for
free info.
My local records are devillishly
unsearchable, and whatever shows up online locally
is as difficult as going
to the court house, except that here, I get to sit down. In fact, and I posted this once before, here
they include vehicle tax in the records, so that if you are searching for an owner, you might come up
with a name only to find out that it is merely the
location ofthe person’s vehicle. Very frustrating.

Chicago title sort of rings a bell, it has been awhile,
and the person I spoke with said they had agents in my
area, but, as I said, I unfortunately lost the information.

So, thank you very much!

Comps from Title Companies? - Posted by MilNC

I didn’t see anything in the archives about this specifically. My local property info is not online
with one of the large services. Sales are not listed.
The county has not yet been picked up for CDROM subscription.

So, my question is, do some title companies
provide this service for a fee, say, on a target property?

I called my two local companies, and neither one would
offer any information on any kind of service at all.
I breifly contacted a national company, possibly referred
by someone here, and got more positive results; unfortunately cannot locate the information at this time.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I realize in some instances, working with a buyer’s broker
would solve the problem, in other cases, not.

Any names of Title Companies? - Posted by MilNC

I did manage to speak with a national title co
who has agents in my area, but can’t find the
info, so I thought if anyone knows companies in the
SE, I might even recognize the name of the company
or the person. I know it’s a shot in the dark,
but I think I got the original info off this board.
Thanks for any help.
Or,I should just go in person to the title companies.

I can get info from my title co. (they are most cooperative, for free) and from my RE broker w/whom I have a nice relationship. She pulls them for fsbo’s or anything else I want.
I guess it’s a relationship thing.

Ann,

Do you have a “Lawyers Title” where you live? This company provides property profiles and comps to me for free. Of course, I funnel all of my closings through them. However, they did so even before I had consummated my first deal.

I recommended Lawyers Title to someone in Florida a while ago. And, while they help me here in Arizona, this particular Florida office did not offer this service. I also understand that our local “Chicago Title” offices will do this too. Doesn’t hurt to ask’em all if need be.

I hope this helps.
