Hi,

I have several of your courses–LT, Corp, LLC, and Alternative R.E. Financing–and in them you discuss some of what is necessary for a corp. to serve as trustee (i.e., registration as a trust co., minimum amount of assets, etc.).

Now, the practical matter of your own corp. acting as trustee for your own trust is apparent–namely, you certainly are not going to report yourself for violating corp. statutes if you are acting on your own behalf; however, will violating state corp. statutes provide an opening for the corp. veil to be pierced should your corp. be sued on an action unrelated to the trust (e.g., slip and fall on rental property)?

Thank you, in advance, for your time.

RS

No, I don’t think that would be a reason for piercing the corprate veil.
