What do you mean by denial of rent? You mean they sent you the rent and you refused it? Or did they apply to rent from you and you denied the application (in which case they’re not a tenant)?

If you refused to rent to them based on a credit report, you have to send them a letter telling them the source of the report and notify them of their right to contact the credit agency. (I think thats part of the fedral Fair Credit Reporting Act.) If you deny them rent for any other reason, the notification requirements can vary by state. Just to be on the safe side, I’d send a letter whatever is actually required.

Do I have to give official denial of rent to a tenant through the mail, or can I simply call them…?

Elaborate w/more details…don’t understand your question. (nt) - Posted by SusanL.–FL
