not to be “negative” (lol), and yes I am biased, but have you ever lost a zip drive? I had 5 go bad last year out of 8. I am now writing to cd rom also. And yes they are pretty darned good. But if you get a scratch on a negative, you can still make prints. Maybe not on from a CD. My point is that with those vital early baby pictures, I’d still shoot some film.
Film will always have it’s place, and that place is getting smaller and smaller. My lab is currently doing 50% of it’s business from digital images, so it’s no skin off my back if/when film dies. I will still have a service to offer customers ie. making copies of prints because their hard drive crashed their original image ! LOL… and afterall, we’ve been copying pictures because people lost their negatives for years ! Then that comes back to the quality and longevity of the printed original… I understand there are some fine printers out there now too. Wayne, my husband, has just upped my education level on those. hehe
