Dismissed court records in Maryland? - Posted by JoeInv

Can’t say about Maryland, but where I am, the court record index is
permanent. Anybody can look up the case by name. Getting the actual
file on the case, if any, is more difficult as you have to do it in person
and older cases may require a re-visit.

I know how you feel though. My leads and deals involve a lot of
research and many sellers are horrified when they find out that I know
what they think I don’t know. This includes criminal filings as well.

Info in the court records doesn’t tell the whole story. I know that and
you know that, but it does get unnerving to see your name there as a
defendant. That being said I’ve passed on two deals that involved
sellers with criminal records involving many counts of violence. I don’t
visit properties or sellers alone anymore, but irrational behaviour is
best avoided I think.

Let us know what you find out about Maryland. Kristine

I had a civil case that was dismissed voluntarily by both parties, in Maryland PG county.

How long are these dismissed records shown on public record?
3 years for a dismissal? 10 years? permanently?

I don’t really like seeing my name in any court records even if it’s been a dismissal.
