IB–(NJ)--------------

Congratulations on being close to pay day.

Several possibilities:
The waste management/garbage company in the area–call and ask them
Call a couple of gas stations nearby.
Call the county environmental health department.
Call the municipal dump/transfer station/landfill operation.

I’m in the process of cleaning out the garage of a rehab I finished and will be closing to sell in a couple of days. Does anyone know what type of company to contact regarding the disposal of gasoline and kerosene the old owner stored in the garage? Thanks.

My first call would be to the county asking if they hold “household hazardous waste round-ups”. These are programs set up to allow homeowners to legally dispose of “household” wastes (e.g., pesticides, cleaning products, and yes . . kerosene and gasoline). Said programs are usually cost-free. However, there are some restrictions on the both quantity and types of materials allowed (no explosives, radioactive materials, business wastes, etc.). Failing that, you can grab a business-to-business yellow pages and look under “waste-hazardous”. You’ll see any number of hazardous waste transporters listed. Good luck.
