Does anyone make careers out of creative RE? Does anyone do this fulltime?

Not exactly full-time… but then… - Posted by JT-IN

I have NO other income besides RE investing.

It is a part time job, that pays triple time, or better!

What a life… and I get paid for doing what I would otherwise do for free.

I have been an independant real estate investor for over 5 years. I turned close to 40 houses last year on a wide variety of creative options.

I’ve been doing this on the side for about five years while holding a management position with Honeywell. I’d been dreaming about going fulltime for at least four of those years. Finally, I got into the financial position I needed to be able to turn-in my resignation and focus on REI fulltime. My employer asked me to stay one month to train my successor.

Funny thing. I thought it would be scary to leave a 25 year career and six figure income with benefits. But, I’ve got to say, it’s one of the most liberating things I’ve ever experienced. My bridges are sufficiently burned…and it feels right!

All I do is real estate investing. And have been only doing this for 25 years. There are many regular posters here that are full time investors. If I had the time I could give you over 100 names.

If you count folks who’s full-time job depends upon CRE the number may be over a million. An off-the-cuff estimate.

Joe:

Do you use options to tie up properties and flip the option contracts? I’ve been studying Barney Zick and Jack Miller option courses and the use of options sounds like a very profitable but less traveled niche method. What are your primary strategies for using options?
