DOJ lien - Posted by Lin

I have gone to 2 lawyers in title company offices and my own personal lawyer. They don’t know what it is either. I was hoping someone had some experience with the DOJ liens. I even contacted the Department of Justice here in Texas and they referred me to an office that I can’t find. They said they couldn’t give me any information on it either. It’s the IRS…go figure.

In 2002 someone asked about the following lien:
UNITES STATES DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE
Notice of Lien for Fine/Restitution Imposed Pursuant to the Anti-Terrorism And Effective
Death Penalty Act of 1996 (18 USC 3613(a)).

There was no definitive answer to the question and now I have it on a property that I foreclosed on. It was there from a previous owner and I assumed the mortgage with no warranty deed or title policy. Has anyone dealt with this before? Does my foreclosure on the property drop this lien off since it has been over a year since the foreclosure? There was another IRS lien on it and they were given 25 days notice prior to foreclosure.

Go see your lawyer. Too important to try to get free answer on any bulletin board.
