Is it unethical to contact the Bank that is currently holding a mortgage to the property you are trying to purchase from FSBO? Any and all advise on this matter is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I don’t think it’s unethical on your part, but it would probably violate federal privacy laws for the bank to disclose personal info about their customer without the customer’s written consent.

The bank will not deal with you unless you have an Authorization to Release Information signed by the seller, so it is a mote point anyway
