Tax lien auctions take place in Cobb county in the courthouse on the first Tuesday of every month at 9 AM. You can find out which tax liens will be auctioned by looking at the Friday edition of the Marietta Daily Journal. The auction takes place in the breezeway between the Superior Court buildings. The Cobb police are also located in these buildings. They are one block east of the square in Marietta. It is normally best to check with the tax commissioners office on the Friday before the auction to see if any tax liens will be sold. You don’t want to waste your time if there are no liens for sale.

It is indeed very rare that any quality properties end up at the tax lien sale. Most times people find a way to avoid the tax lien sale. They refinance the home or sell it. There may be occasional liens to buy, but I would not depend on Cobb county to be your only source.

Note: This Tax Commissioner collects real property taxes not only for Cobb County but also for two of the County?s six municipalities, Acworth and Kennesaw. Austell, Marietta, Powder Springs and Smyrna are municipalities that collect their own taxes.

Beyond stating the following, the Cobb County Tax Commissioner currently provides no information about it?s tax sales on the Internet:

?The Tax Commissioner serves as Ex-Officio Sheriff. This confers on him the legal authority to conduct the levy process. It generally entails the collection of delinquent property taxes including penalties, interest, and related costs and fees by selling properties at auction to satisfy unpaid delinquencies.?

However, the Clerk of the Cobb County Superior Court maintains the following, excellent free Internet web site where Real Property Records can be searched by name (i.e., the grantor/grantee index) or legal description and copies of documents can be viewed. Additionally, users can search for all of certain specific types of legal documents (e.g., County Tax Liens, City Tax Liens, County Tax Lien Transfers, City Tax Lien Transfers, Tax Sale Deeds, Sheriff?s Deeds, etc.) that have been recorded during certain time periods:

I suggest that you search the internet. There is a site which lists GA taxlien sales. I think it is a private party company that does it. But maybe it is in the state government. I saw it several months ago and it was very helpful.
