General question about location and home values. - Posted by Mike

You’re in a position to know your area better than anyone else.

Check some of the other townhouse communities…and the housing areas adjacent to them. Were they affected negatively? Apply the numbers you discover to the new area you are looking at.

My feeling would be that the houses that back up to the townhomes might be less desirable…but that’s going to depend on what type of townhomes are built too. In general, I would try to pick something that is farther away from the townhomes…on the inside of the community, or on one of the other boundaries.

General question about location and home values. - Posted by Mike

I have a general question about a home that will be a primary residence for my family and I. This house is in a new construction community, built close to another newer community, but also adjacent to vacant land on which they are planning on building townhouses.

The area that we live in has many townhouse subdivisions, but we are still wondering if this type of housing adversely affects the value of single family homes.

Any comments are greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
