Bob: good question. If it’s probate, then of course it’s appropriate. But I am thinking that it never hurts to send a letter to the tax record address indicating interest. It could just say that you are interested in buying the house if it’s for sale. I don’t think that would offend anyone. I’ve never found any that early, only after or during probate, so I’m just voicing my opinion here. Sincerely, Kristine

I know there are homes in my area that are owned by children of the deceased. How long after the funeral would everyone recommend,I wait before contacting these children? About buying their parents home.
