Yes, here in Florida they will not write anything when a hurricane is within a certian amount of miles from the state. Once its out of the “watch box” they resume business.

Has anyone tried to buy homeoners insurance this week in the 4 fire affected counties? An escrow officer I know said for her own new house she could not buy any - there is a moratoium on selling for the time being.

There usually is a freeze when a disaster happends or is about to like hurricanes and such. Once the danger passes it will be lifted.
