I drove by a house today that said Warning: House has been winterized 2-16-06… what does this mean?
Thanks

Do not assume the systems are ok.If the prior occupant turned off power and heat before they winterized the house it is froze up anyway and they just went through the motions because the bank was paying them anyway. If you try to buy this property take into account that you will probably be fixing pipes drains and a heating system if it is a boiler

This is common in cold climates on REO properties.
It means the water was cut off and lines were drained. The water heater was also cut off and drained. Antifreeze was put into the drain lines so the water in the traps would not freeze and bust the pipes.
