You are right. I beleive PV must be 30-50% or more higher than LB. Oakland almost as high as Beverly Hills or Santa Barbara is way off. In Florida anyone who has been around this state knows Boca Raton comparable prices are at least double that of Daytona Beach. Maybe our government calculates our unemployement rates and inflation rates the same way as Caldwell Banker makes up its numbers…lol

Nice article comparing housing prices around the
country:

Most expensive housing markets

http://money.cnn.com/pf/features/lists/hpci_data/index.html

See how yours stacks up.

NEW YORK (CNN/Money) – Most homeowners know that how much house you get for your money depends entirely on where you live.

But Coldwell Banker’s annual Home Price Comparison Index (HPCI), released Wednesday, shows just how huge this affordability gap can be, comparing selling prices of similar homes in similar neighborhoods in more than 300 markets.

Specifically, Coldwell Banker looked at a 2,200-square-foot house with 4 bedrooms, 2 ½ bathrooms, a family room and a two-car garage. The neighborhood - a more subjective measure - is one “typical for corporate middle-management transferees.”

See how much that home would cost in your city - or in the city you dream of moving to.

Thanks for the interesting read. Did you find it realistic for areas you are familiar with? I can tell you many areas I am very familiar with in Florida were way off.

I think it is pretty good for Michigan.
Are the numbers high for Florida? That’s what
I would think - based on what others have said.

I’d like to know where they are getting their numbers as well. I live in Southern California and I can guarantee the median home price in Palos Verdes is higher than the median home price in Long Beach, which is inverted in this report.
