I have. Bought a brownstone in Harlem, a 4-family walk up in Brooklyn and more. There are many techniques that work here. Just remember that the NY market is quite unique and some of them simply don’t. I’d suggest your attending an investor’s meeting. I like Ultimate Investors (check out the list on this site).

Hello,
My name is Antoine. I am just starting to invest here in NYC, which I know can be a real challenge, because of the Sellers Market that exist here in this city.
But, from what I have been learning over the past month about this market is that there are purchases in the outer-areas of Manhattan… ie Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens, that I may be able to make a good investment decision on.
Now, I would like to know of any other investors that has successfully accomplished purchasing property in NYC, and would consider giving me some insight on what type of deals they considered using, and what techniques that you may think would work in this market.
