If I had the time and it was realllly bad…I would follow all the steps I outlined.

Then, at the dump, I would use rake and pull the stuff out.

Or, with the fridge on the tailgate, open the doors and push it off so it lands on the open side. Pull the truck up. Flip the fridge up and back on the truck. Off to the center.

Or, get a cheap snorkel set. Connect a long enough tube to the end of the snorkel (10-15’ should be enough)so it sucks up fresh air, and go to work.

Got a rehab going on right now, also trying to get a pad built to move one in. and a few othe r things. and yes, Trevor is still hanging in there with us. I just know ya’ll are kickin’ up in the Show me state.

The last one that I cleaned out for someone else cost them $100.00 that was 14 years ago, it had formerly frozen ground beef in the freezer, no power for 6 weeks…Dang. I don’t know how them maggots got in that freezer, musta been in the meat.

If possible plug it in for a day, if it works, cold & frozen rotten food smells somewhat nicer than thawed, go figure.

20 or so years ago I hauled 4 chest freezers off to the dump that were over a year out, a repo property that the prior owner had burned the house down. I used a dump truck & didn’t hang around the dump after, & made shure they didn’t get opened before.

A&W please

Rick

figures, guy from Florida would suggest a snorkel!

We can’t dump a fridge that has the compressor in it… I don’t wanna have
that long of a relationship with it, anyway! Got the food out and am killing
the smell… Tues it goes to the recycler!

well… we’ve been getting kicked lately! - Posted by Marty (MO)

glad things are going well for you- are you pouring a pad or piers or
runners or? for your park?

we’re working through a few speed bumps. ugh. this is a note we
bought (fabulous deal!)- the guy let his insurance lapse, smoked in
bed, caught the joint on fire, ruined it, and disappeared. Guess who’s
stuck with the bill? We screwed up big on this one. If the guy would’ve
had current insurance, this would’ve been a nice windfall. Instead… he
definitely wiped out our profits! At least no one was hurt…

Glad everything’s good in Alabama… You know the joke Tennessee
people are telling, don’t you? about the new Alabama state quarter? it’s
2 dimes and a nickel duct taped together!

Hehhehee!

dang… that’s what I’m doing wrong- I’m trying to pay people the going rate from 14 years ago!

I solved my problem- I got an scba from the fire department so I can breathe through a mask. It’ll still be disgusting, but it won’t smell!

I’m glad I wasn’t around when you hauled those 4 freezers to the dump… ugh.

Hate to hear about ya’ll gettin kicked around up there, but I know you can handle what ever come along.
We are building a dirt pad. The land is very unlevel at the park. When we bring in a home the ground can’t have more than 2-3’ of fall, and the water has to drain away from the home at least 10’ in all directions.
By the way them there new quarters are really hard to get in the coke machine.

It was pretty bad, these were in an old shed, & had to be carried out, I used some laborers on a regular basis back then & one of them walked up & opened the lid on one of them, but only a couple of inches before I slammed it shut. I didn’t have to explain, the smell did it for me. When I got to the dump, I untarped, & backed up, put the PTO in gear & raised it up till I heard the freezers sliding & then hauled taters out. I never stopped till I was well out of “nose range”.

The SCBA is a great idea, I have some cartridge respirators that I will have to try the next time I am faced with such a task. Still, maggots…Ugh.

how many homes do you have in the park now? what do you use for
piers?

We’re about through this little mess… ugh.

I figured a frugal guy such as yourself would’ve watched the videos on
how to get free cokes out of the machine! Or, you’d own the coke
machines and figure out how to make it on Alabama duct tape
quarters!

My partner does that! - Posted by Marty (MO)

Ray has some urge to open refrigerators- he can’t resist.

I got lucky and was able to use the scba to make it fairly painless. I’m
on the look out for charcoal respirators, though!

‘UGH’ is right!

thanks.

We have 8 in now. Piers are just blocks. Are you coming to the MOM at Jim and Ellens?
