A land trust is a contract, not an entity, so it is not formed under a specific state law. Also, it is recommended that you form a different trust for each property to avoid the trust being classified as an entity by the IRS.

I live in NY. If I create a Land Trust in Colorado, put my Colorado, New Mexico and Texas raw acreage land in this Land Trust would this pose any problems? Do you see any benefits in proceeding in another way? All suggestions welcome.
