Your house is the problem not the tenant. You should be paying her rent while she is staying somewhere else, and as far as you collecting rent from her for your place…That’s Crazy! It’s not her fault that you have crappy wiring in the house. Bert, you must pay for everything and get on with life my friend. Things will get better.

I have a tenant who has some electrical problems in the house. She is gonna have to stay somewhere else for a little bit, Do I have to prorate her rent the time she is gone?

Just as a good-will gesture, I’d prorate the rent, whether it was required or not. Thats my 20 years in retail talking. Remember, the tenant is your customer.
