Generally speaking, there are three restrictions on name use:

  1. It cannot be deceptively similar to another name in use for that industry

  2. It cannot suggest that you do something you don’t (I don’t see a problem in your case)

  3. It cannot contain words that require license from the state for a business you are not licensed (e.g., law, engineering, banking, insurance, etc)

I am about to file my articles of organization for an LLC in Alabama, but it hit me that there could be some possible legal implication to the name… I was going to consult an attorney locally, but figured I would post here first… For example, I want to use the name “ABC Property Financing”. I will be primarily be doing “Lonnie” Deals for the first year or two… Is there any problem with including the work Financing in my LLC name?

Just figured better safe than sorry, besides I’ll feel better knowing for sure…

Thanks in Advance
