When a lein or a judgement is filed (including IRS lein),I would assume that it is filed in the county of residense, are they attached to a persons credit report or are they just filed at the county recorders office?

My understaning is that eventually it should show up, as the credit bureaus eventually “sweep” county records. When they do, then it shows up. I’ve heard that it’s better to file the judgment in multiple counties in the area for this reason.

I file property tax liens all the time at the county clerk’s office. These liens show up when a title search is done on the property. They do not come up on a credit report. An IRS lien will show up in a title search. I don’t know if it shows up on a credit report.
