Loan/Closing Question - Picture ID? - Posted by Jesse

Typically you are asked for picture ID at the closing. I believe the notary needs it to acknowledge whatever documents need to be notarized. A hard money lender probably won’t need it. Call a couple of title companies and ask what types of ID you can use in place of a drivers license.

Hello,

Just wondering, do you need a drivers license or other ID to obtain a loan, or at the closing table? (Hard Money, Broker, etc…)

The reason I ask is that I do not have a drivers license. So what other picture ID is acceptable if necessary?

Thanks.

You can get a state issued “non-driver’s” id from your department of motor vehicles. It looks just like a driver’s license and it states exactly what it is.
