Does anyone out there know whether it is advisable to purchase tax liens and/or certificates in one area of the country when you live in another?

Thanks for any answers, comments, and tips!

Yes Judy, it is possible.

However, TLCs that can be purchased by mail are, technically, no longer TLCs. These are liens that did not sell at the tax lien auction and were subsequently struck off to the State as “Certificates of Purchase”. CP lists are available for various counties around the U.S., and they (CP`s) may be purchased by mail directly from the county Treasurer.

I must agree with BRnBA, this is NOT the business to get into as a rookie. There are far too many variables when it comes to dealing with TLCs or CPs that make them an unwise choice for the beginning investor.

I hope this information helps. T.B.
