As with almost all generalizations the academia issue can’t be accurately summed up in a blanket statement.
But, I have to say that as a group, I am more disappointed in academia than almost any other in the country outside of government.
I don’t consider that to be a slam. And I fully realize that there are some wonderful people in the system. As an example, I thoroughly enjoy and respect Prof. Walter Williams…who I find to be a brilliant economist. I could name others, but the point is made.
As I said in an earlier message, it’s the institutional issues more than the people involved. I find that very few have the ability or desire to resist the way the tide is turning, and hence I tend to group the two together for the purpose of arguing a point.
