Any advice on sending a marketing letter to the out of state children of loved ones whose homes are in probate? I sent a letter about 2 months after a death to an out of state owner asking if the home was for sale and received a very nasty letter in reply.I said I had obtained the information on the home from public records and indicated I buy homes if the property is for sale. I mentioned being out of state makes selling a property more difficult to sell and since I was interested in the property, I might be able to help if the family planned on selling. The letter I got in reply was very nasty and included a threat of law suite if I ever contacted them again.
I never expected this reaction. What did I do wrong?
