Most boards also have affiliate members such as appraisers and mortgage companies. You may be able to get the same access by being a mortgage company - which in many states requires no licensing or courses.

The only way I know to access the MLS is to become a Realtor yourself (Ughhh). However if you establish a good working relationship with a realtor and show them that you are really serious about your investing they will be more than happy to get you any information you need from the MLS. Your business puts cash in their pockets! They will supply you with info!
