Portfolio lenders are lenders who make the loan and portfolio it or keep it. This type of lender has more flexibility in their underwriting criteria, because they don’t sell the loan or broker it off. Also since they don’t sell the loan off, you have an opportunity to establish and build a relationship with this type of lender.
