entering the payment as a negative number? On the 12c that would be:
175.96 [CHS][PV]
See if it works that way.

Need help, HP-12c gives error message - Posted by Art in WV

Hello all–I wonder what I’m doing wrong here. I can get same numbers as Lonnie when I punch in numbers to structure a note. However, when I try to figure my yield on a deal I keep getting error message on my HP12c.
For example, DOW page 34:
N=30
PMT=175.96
PV=2,000
When I push “i” I get Error 5 message
Anyone have an idea what’s wrong?

OK, got it now. Another thing I figured out was my date format was set wrong. It needs to be in D.MY function. Thanks all. Art in WV

pmt needs to be negitive -$175.96 then solve for (I) which will be 7.90 then multiply by 12 to get your yearly yield, this should be 94.78, hope this helps.

On my calculator I have to enter 175.96, hit the +/- button, then PMT. Hope this helps.
