“Wealth Protection Secrets of a Millionaire Real Estate Investor” by William Bronchick is a good book to start with.

Thanks to David for the very kind reply to "Land Trust s "
Can someone recommend a book(s) or other research source for getting a strong handle on how a corporation can protect assets?

not an attorney, but in most cases if you are operating in your home state you would want a corporation/LLC based in that state. Many states have additional fees and charges for “foreign” corporation which means any not based in that state.

Additionally in some states there are special taxes for out of state corps, and even the possibility of double taxation.

Most states have info on starting a corp/llc online. If you have further questions consult an attorney in your home state familar with corp/llc law.
