Ohio Senate Bill #142 went into effect 1-1-00. The bill requires a permit to move a M/H in OHIO. The cost is $5, and all taxes must be paid up to date. My question is this: some other provision in that bill had said that all M/H purchased after 1-1-00 would be automatically taxed as real estate, does anyone know if this is the case or not?

MH’s are now taxed as real property in Ohio. That is, an appraised value is applied to obtain FMV. The appraised value is multiplied by 35% to reach the assessed value. The assessed value is multiplied by the applicable tax rates to derive the amount due.

In addition, sales tax no longer applies to sale of used mobile homes. Instead, real estate transfer fee applies- $3/$1000 sales price.

John, I noticed that your transfer tax is $3/$1000. In Champaign Co. it is $1/$1000 and in Clark Co. it is $2/$1000. ???
