Where is the best place to get credit reports, online or not? And about how much should they cost?

Thanks,
Tim

Tim,
I use NTN, (National Tenant Network.
You can find them at www.ntnnrt.com

Some areas are covered by the “online service” they offer, but frankly, I like the Fax back system they offer.
There is a $35 membership fee, one time only charge, and the reports for credit only are about $8.00
All you do with the fax back service is call a number and input some data on the applicant, and about 2 minutes later, it comes thru your fax machine.
simple, and cheap, just how I like it.
Hope that helps,
Jim IL

Its kinda hard to get online credit reports on people other than youorself. The credit rportig services have to comply with the law, and take reasonable steps to see that those who use their service comply as well. Therefore, before you can obtain credit reports on someone, you have to sign a statement that says you’ve got a darn good reason. Pretty hard to sign a website, gets ink all over your screen.

I use Credit Link (www.credilink.com). You go online to sign up, and they will mail or fax you the forms to sign. Once you’re all set up, you use their software to send the applican’ts data, and you get your reprt back in about 2 minutes. (I timed it). There is no monthly fee, reports are $9.95 each, and they bill you at the end of the month. For the few number of reports I do, maybe one every few months, its cheaper than signing up for a service that has a recurring fee.

Hope this helps.

Tim-

If you are selling a house and want to pre qualify your buyers to see what kind of mortgage they can get I would connect with a good mortgage broker who can handle this and the buyer will pay for the report.

I too have looked for online reports. Even those
Chris mentioned don’t appear to be online and mostly
for getting a report on yourself.

Even though it’s not ‘online’, I have been getting
reports from Northland Services in Kansas City.
800-905-8774. Costs $9 to have it sent to my
fax machine. I get the money from my tenant applicants
with the application, so it turns out to be FREE
(for me anyway).
