Paul, Call in a service. Get the estimate and deduct 3 times whatever it is from your offer. There will always be extra costs associated with these type things that spring up after the cleanup.
Good luck,
BillW.

Sometimes you run into an abandoned property where the second floor or attic was home to pigeons via a missing window, etc… Of course, it goes without saying, the place is covered with pigeon tirds.

How is pigeon tird (droppings) cleaned? I’ve heard its very toxic.

Thanks in advance.

Paul

Paul,

It is toxic, use masks and gloves, and wear old clothes. We had hundreds of pigeons in the attic of our current rehab. The exterminator got rid of many of them using poison, and we blocked up the windows so they couldn’t get back in. We were lucky in that the attic floor was insulated with styrofoam boards lying on top of wooden floors. We paid two guys $30/hr (for both of them) to toss the guano-covered styrofoam out the windows, throw it in our dumpster, and to use a shopvac to clean the wooden floor. There are still a few pigeons upstairs hiding under the floorboards, we have to tear up the floorboards to get their bodies out. We bought the shop vac and we gave the two guys high-quality filtered masks (the kind you use for painting).

Good luck with your project.

Anne
