Purchase FL Property with AL Coporation? - Posted by Tony S. in FL

William,

Thanks for the quick reply.

I went to your “The Top 10 Legal Questions–Answered!” , and listened to your topic on “Nevada or Delaware” coporations.

Your explanation about “foreign” coporations and how they could have to pay extra fees was interesting. That pretty much answers my question on whether to use my Alabama corp in Florida.

Thanks again for taking the time to reply.

Tony

I have some of my RE investments held in an Alabama corporation. I moved to Florida and am considering using the AL corp. to purchase rentals here.

I’m wondering if I need to do anything like register the corporation with the state of Florida or something in order to do this.

Thanks.

You should either register the corporation or form a new one in FL. The fees in FL are reasonable, so it would probably make sense to form a new one, unless you have corporate account in the existing company that you could use.
