If you know what state he was incarcerated in, for starters, you can write to that State’s Department of Corrections or Bureau of Prisons, or whatever they happen to call it. I don’t know how long they keep records (probably forever) or what you have to do to get information released. I believe most of this type of record is either public, or can be subpoenaed.
