Screening Tenants - Posted by Kevin-ATL

mrlandlord.com - credit checks for 10 bucks. We charge the tenants a $10 application fee to pass along the costs.
Our state (IA) has criminal background checks online for free - it’s public information. You might want to do some internet searches for your state to see if they have the same.
Don’t forget to call their references (job and past landlords).

Can anyone tell me what they find most effective in the process of screening tenants? Also, can anyone tell me how I go about getting criminal background and credit checks on a prospective tenant, as well as the costs involved? Thanks!

Kevin,

I use a tenant screening service called Real Chek America. (www.realchek.com).

They do everything from credit, criminal checks, skip trace services, etc.

So far I have been pleased with the service.

Great Success,
