the inspector will look for obvious stuff. chipping paint may get you an item on your punchlist. but it might not. I do not bother doing pre-inspection maintainence. I just wait for the punchlis and I start fixing stuff.

they look for easy stuff: missing window screens, doors that don’t lock, nasty flooring, water leaks, wires hanging loose, stuff that does not work (stove, frig, toilets, lights…) windows that won’t open or lock…

Good morning all. This coming Wednesday is my Sec.8 re-inspection. I have several areas in my rental home that have chipping paint (steps, railing along steps, door frames,etc.). Is the inspector from Sec.8 pretty strict on painting? I mean, i’m not a professional painter. I do a decent job, it’s just doing the steps is a little tough, some of the paint got onto the side wall. I know, I should tape the areas around the painting. Can I pass inspection with “amateur” painting?

thanks all
