It all depends on the profit spread in the property. Here in NY, if I put a house under contract for say, $25K, but it is really worth $45K, I will accept a 3 or 5K assignment fee, depending on the effort it took to locate the property in the first place. HTH.

A lender I contacted recently advised me, as beginner, to flip contracts to start. I’ve noticed this seems to be the prevailing advice here as well. I live in Los Angeles, California and I plan to start attending REICLA meetings next month. My question is how do I determine what to charge for contracts? I imagine fellow bird-doggers would rather keep their trade secrets under wraps and I’m not sure who I can trust. For instance, if I say, $1,000.00 Will the guy tell me it’s too much? I know it seems like a premature question but in order to build professional relationships with these people I imagine I have to appear as knowledgeable as possible, right?
